Thelma Nixon Griffin 4/9/1902 to 9/24/1953
The Niagara Falls (NY) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated, honor charter member Thelma Nixon Griffin.
Mrs. Griffin was a great asset to the community, she was active in
the civic, social, educational and economic life of our area. In 1950, ten concerned Black women in Niagara Falls and Buffalo came together to decide how they could make a difference in their communities. It was a time of great need for the Black community. Thus, the Niagara, Buffalo Chapter of the Links, Inc. was chartered. Thelma was the first Corresponding Secretary of the chapter. Their motto was "service thru friendship" In fact, these women were already friends.
Mrs. Griffin was very active with the Niagara Community Center and the Niagara Falls Chapter of the Links, Incorporated when she became ill and passed away, September 24, 1953. We recognize and honor her deeds; her legacy of community service and friendship is carried on through her daughter
Laura Griffin Pleasant an active Alumna member who still serves the Niagara County Area, of the Niagara Falls (NY) Chapter of the Links, Incorporated.

The Niagara Falls (NY) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated had the pleasure of donating nearly 50 pairs of sneakers, which we collected at our Annual Emerald and Ivory Gala. Our theme this year was Emerald Nights, Sequins & Sneakers. The sneakers were donated to Tiffany's Closet at Harry F. Abate Elementary School.
The closet is named in honor of our beloved member Tiffany Nalls-Ford, who was known for her kind giving heart.
